Angarak Chaturthi is a prosperous day dedicated to the Hindu god, Lord Ganesha. This Chaturthi always falls on a Tuesday and is celebrated in every Hindu calendar month on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha (dark lunar fortnight). Ganesha is a widely acclaimed god in India with many devotees, especially amongst Jains and Buddhists. One of his distinguished features is his elephant head on his human body.He is admired as the patron of science and art, principally in terms of intelligence and many pray to him for removing the hurdles in their life. He is honored as the god who must be prayed to first before the start of any ritual. In Hindu Mythology, Angarak was a devout follower of Ganesha and wished that his name be always related with Lord Ganesha and this wish of his was granted to him by Ganesha who created Angarak Chaturthi as a day for all his followers to pray to him and Angarak. Angarak Chaturthi is celebrated all over India, with many fasting for the whole day. The fast ends at night after praying to Lord Ganesha for wisdom and prosperity. Many believe that observing this Chaturthi leads to serenity and reduces all obstacles of life.
