Online fraud is the present-day modus operandi of fraudsters to extract money from people. Digitalisation growth during the Covid-19 pandemic augmented online fraud activities.
Digitalization brought a massive transformation in the transaction process. The contactless processes expedited performance, enhanced customer experience and reduced operating costs. It made us 100% dependent on the ease of access and we dropped off our guards to derive its benefits.
Not realising the fact quoted by Pablo Picasso
“Every positive value has its price in negative terms...
the genius of Einstein leads to Hiroshima.”
Digitalisation also fabricated many online fraudulent methods and to our dismay, the victim numbers are only spiking every day.
The most common Online fraud
- Fake or Stolen Identity - Scammers rob credit card numbers and identity information of genuine customers. The organised groups even buy identities in the dark web market (illegally maintained identity data). Sometimes pretend as real middlemen in the case of travel agencies or Talent acquisition companies.
- Account takeover (ATO) by phishing user data information - Fraudsters acquire highly credible personal data of existing customers through data breaches, forgery, or phishing. Unfortunately, it is the most common fraud that is being carried out.
- Biometrics hacking - These days online fraud has become so advanced that they have developed ways to hack even biometrics-powered identity verification methods. Hackers can generate fake convincing fingerprints or create a mask over a face or a contact lens on an eye. Such biometric spoofing can even fool the liveness detection verification systems.
Victim of Online Fraud
In the year 2020, a very famous personality became a victim of online fraud. NDTV senior Journalist Nidhi Razdan fell into a Cybercrime trap. She became the victim of a phishing scam targeted to steal her financial details.
It all started after she attended and spoke at an event organised by the Harvard Kennedy School. An imposter pretending to be from the same event organisers contacted her, with an opportunity to join Harvard as an Associate professor. Considering its Harvard Kennedy, Nidhi Razdan immediately submitted her resume and she was interviewed in a few weeks.
To her surprise, she received an email confirming her recruitment from the HR of Harvard. They sent an offer letter and agreement documents with the name and stamps of all the Harvard signatories. It was made up so meticulously that it contained her former employer's email IDs for recommendation letters.
She got so convinced by the details sent like the class schedule, or subject details that she even announced her new opportunity.
However, when Nidhi Razdan did not receive her work visa, she wrote to the Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The response shocked her as they had no record of her appointment at the school.
Here a very high level of technical and digital fraud was carried out swindling her financial information on the pretext of transferring her salary.
Anybody can be a victim of these unbelievably deceitful techniques. Using such an approach they take away victims' identities, financial details and even money.
Can you believe Christiano Ronaldo the famous footballer was robbed of £250,000 by a travel agent? He used Ronaldo’s banking information to charge for some 200 trips that never happened.
Wondering how astrology can protect you from getting duped online?
Yes, astrology has a correlation with the monetary loss we may incur due to fraudulent activities. These days online has become the most common platform for fraudsters to steal money or swindle Identity details for financial transactions.
Vedic astrology to a large extent can inform us in advance about any kind of monetary loss, obstructions, deception or cheating. A proficient astrologer looking at the various combinations in the birth chart can warn against such occurrences.
The main houses indicating financial issues in the horoscope are the 6th, 8th, 11th, and 12th Houses. While Rahu, Ketu and Saturn planets' positions are also involved in such losses.
Most of the time you won’t be able to control the sudden loss of money to online fraudulent activities. But by looking at the combinations of planets and houses in the horoscope you can atleast guard against any such situation. Your cautiousness, particularly at the time when there are chances of losses as per your horoscope can avert online fraud incidence.
Few basic astrological readings to avert online fraud
- If the second house known as the house of wealth is weak it reflects financial loss or money blockage. And also Ketu in the 2nd House may lead to financial problems, causing you to spend unnecessarily. As Ketu sometimes can be the cause of restlessness in life, fluctuating circumstances, and self-doubt resulting in low confidence. Because of its malefic effect, you may get carried away and trust somebody easily. Therefore don't keep your guard down during the period when Ketu is placed in the weak 2nd house.
- Jupiter is another planet which is extremely important for financial growth and prosperity in life. It is a karaka of wealth, grandeur, and fortunes. However, if Jupiter is in the 6th, 7th and 10th house it can inflict unfavourable situations on the native. Jupiter in these houses can bring financial losses because of natives' expanded overconfidence, ego and recklessness.
- Again Mars in the Dusthana houses - 6th, 8th and 12th increases indulgence in wrong behaviour and gives overconfidence. The amplified greed and overconfidence may throw you into the trap of such online fraudsters. And if Mars conjuncts with Rahu in the 2nd house, it can create a negative effect leading to the loss of major savings. Rahu may look for all the possible ways to retrieve the lost money and even manage to bring it back. But Rahu's wrongful ways never let natives sleep in peace ever after.
- When Saturn aspects Ketu it invokes conflicting emotions in the natives. Saturn and Ketu's presence in the 10th, 11th and 12th houses can result in financial setbacks, failures, debts, sudden monetary losses, and obstacles in making money. Thus, during this phase, any transaction such as bitcoin or cryptocurrency or financial deals should be completely avoided. You may incur losses or get entrapped in online fraud.
Therefore, it is always better to be aware of the houses or planets in the horoscope that threaten financial losses. It will be best to control the characteristics imposed by malefic combinations of planets or houses like greed, over-ambitions, over-confidence, overindulgence, and overspending.
As per Vedic Astrology these combinations may help to retrieve back the lost money
- If the 6th house lord is present in the 8th house and the 8th house lord is either in conjunct or is aspecting the 8th house, then the natives get financial relief or may regain the lost money. The 8th house is mainly the house of resurrection.
- And if the 6th house lord is a Shubhagrah and it aspects the 2nd house then also the chances of gaining lost money increases.
- Also when the 6th house lord is placed in the 11th house as a benefactor the lost money may be returned. For example - if it is Gemini Ascendant, and Mars rules the 6th & 11th house and sits in 11th house in the Aries sign. Here as Mars is in its own house such planetary placement gives courage to fight against all the obstacles and disputes. It will eventually help to gain financial losses.
People with malefic combinations in the horoscope should always be careful of any fraudulent activity. As per astrology, the person may again fall prey to deception.
Don't let the latest online fraudster trickery take away your hard-earned money. You should be extremely cautious with your identity details on the net. Always stay alert and it would be best to get your astrological readings done especially if you are involved in heavy financial transactions regularly.
Astrology is one of the trusted ways to safeguard or regain lost money.
