In old times, there was a landowner in a town. The landowner had a battle with a Brahman and murdered him out of hate. The landowner later realized his mistake and needed to apologize by taking part in the Brahmana's cremation ceremonies however was denied. Subsequently, he was getting anxious due to murdering a Brahman. He enquired a saint as to whether he could ever get free from his sin. The saint advised him to keep a fast on Kamika Ekadashi. The landowner kept a vrat as told by the saint. During the evening, the landowner was sleeping next to the Lord's idol. Lord Vishnu showed up in his dreams and liberated him of his wrongdoings and was pardoned by the Lord for his sins.
