Maa Katyayini on the Sixth day:
Maa Katyayini is worshiped on the sixth Day of navratri. She is the sixth manifestation of Goddess Parvati. Her name Katyayani, is derived from her fathers name Katyayna. Maa Katyayini is considered as one of the violent avatar of Goddess Parvati. She was the slayer of Mahishasura.
One should wear red coloured clothes on this day. She governs the planet Jupiter. So any dosh of Brahaspati can be removed after her puja.

In Shaktism, Maa Katyayani is often associated with fierce form of Shakti or Durga. Her fights with demons are also described in Devi Bhagwat Purana, and Markandeya Purana attributed to Sage Markandeya Rishi. Thus, the one who wrote it in Sanskrit ca. 400-500 CE.
Hence, her Presence is also felt in Buddhist and Jain texts, along with Tantric Texts, especially the Kalika Purana.
Ancient Legends:
According to ancient legends, she was the daughter of Katyayna Rishi. And belonging to the lineage originating from the Rishi Vishwamitra, in tartaric traditions. As it is revealed further through the north face. Which is one of the six faces of Shiva. This face is blue in color and three eyed.
