The Tridev
The trinity of Gods namely Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara is incarnated in one avatar known as Tridev or Trimurti. Tridev is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and destruction of everything that takes place in the universe as per the Hindu religion.
The trinity or trio of the three supreme Gods / divinity, namely Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva/Maheshwara is incarnated in one avatar known as Tridev or Trimurti. Tridev is responsible for the creation, maintenance and destruction of everything that takes place in the universe as per Hindu mythology. The Trinity includes Lord Brahma, who is the creator of the universe and he one who created Gods, Demons, men and women; Lord Vishnu who is responsible for the stability and maintenance of the functions of the world; and Lord Shiva also known as Mahadev, the furious one who is responsible for the destruction and rebirth of everything that came in to the world.
Legends have it as the divine trio was the unique child of Dattatreya, but later it was said that they appeared as the children of Sage Atri and Anusuya. Being the manifestation of trinity, Tridev possessed the unique symbol of the three Gods, Kamandalu and Mala of Lord Brahma; Shankha and Chakra of Lord Vishnu and Trishul of Lord Shiva. It is said that the unique manifestation was the fruit of the consecration of Sati Anusuya, the wife of Sage Atri and thus they deserved to be the parents of the Trinity.
Brahma, the creator is the consort of goddess Saraswati. He personifies the absolute and the birth. He is shown as sitting on a lotus, having four heads representing the four vedas in the hindu scriptures. Vishnu the preserver is the consort of Goddess Lakshmi is portrayed as blue and black skinned and has four arms that bear Shankha, Chakra, Gada and Padma. The third God of the trinity is Lord Shiva that symbolises anger, ferociousness and utmost power of decision making. He is portrayed white with dark blue throat and three eyes. He is the consort of Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer and recreator. Lord Shiva is worshipped in temple in the form of 'Shivaling'.
Lord Tridev Puja
Performing Tridev Puja can appease the deceased ancestors who are angry or not satisfied with our offerings. This can cause mental breakdown, difficulties in progeny, disharmony at home, physically or mentally suffered children, delays in marriage, financial crisis etc. To get rid of such problems, one can perform a homa or a puja to Tridev. The puja can be performed by the purohit and that includes chanting of the Tridev mantra for 7 days.
