About Apara Ekadashi

According to the Hindu Calender, the 11th day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of lunar month of Jyeshtha, is known as Apara Ekadashi. People observe the Vrat (fast) of Apara Ekadasi.

The importance of the day of Apara Ekadashi is also elaborated in the Brahmanda Purana. This day is highly sacred that keeping the Apara Ekadasi fast leads to elimination of all the bad deeds of previous life. Significance of Apara Ekadashi

On day, Dharmaraj Yudhishthir asked Lord Krishna about the benefits received from Apara Ekadashi. Lord Krishna elaborated him the entire importance of the very Apara Ekadasi. He told him that Apara Ekadashi is named such, because it is a basis of attaining enormous wealth, prosperity, and money for the devotees. Devotees who observe the fast of Apara Ekadasi with faith and devotion by following all the rules of the fast, he/she gains immense favour from Lord Vishnu.

By observing the fast, one can eliminate all the sins of life, including those which are not considered humane. The bad deeds like killing a Brahman, a cow, or speaking a lie, making relations with some other woman, also get vanished away by observing the Apara Ekadashi Vrat.

Lord Krishna also told him that everyone should observe the Apara Ekadasi Vrat for receiving the immense blessings of Lord Vishnu.
