About Tula Sankranti

Tula Sankranti, also known as Garbhana Sankranti, is an important festival of Orissa and Karnataka. It is celebrated on the first day of the solar month of Kartika. This day holds great importance to the farmers. This day comes with an opportunity for them to worship and please Goddess Lakshmai, the authority of wealth, prosperity and fertility, who will bestow on them her blessings. Garbhana or garbh means pregnancy. When the rice plants grow up to show the ears of corns in their womb, the farmers get joyous just as a pregnant mother feels joyous being feeling the growth of her child in her womb. Farmers enjoy their achievements by celebrating this day. The whole family of the farmers get involved during the puja ceremony and pray to God that there will never be shortage of food in their nation.
